2013 brings us the 32nd American River Festival.
As its name implies, the American River Festival is all about the river. The primary events are for competitive kayakers, including this year’s premiere slalom competitions. See the events page for more information.
We continue with the Friends of the River Annual Gear Swap. Need river gear? Got too much? Maybe you just want to make some money off that old bucket boat to buy your own self-bailer? We already have an assortment of used kayaks, rafts, and boat frames with too many life jackets and paddles to count and more! Help keep the tradition alive by signing up to bring gear or volunteer. A committee of a experienced Gear Swap types are coming together to make this happen. If you would like more information or want to get involved, please contact Big Bird.
Proceeds from the Festival go to further the efforts of American Whitewater, a national organization dedicated to conserving America’s whitewater resources, Friends of the River, California’s state wide river conservation organization and the American River Conservancy, a local conservation group that has been protecting the American (and Cosumnes) River basins for over 20 years. You can visit the American River Conservancy’s Nature Center on Hwy. 49 opposite the Post Office in Coloma, when you come into town for the Festival.
Whatever your pleasure, thrilling whitewater or watching paddlers negotiate the challenges offered on the Nugget Slalom course, join us for this 32nd run of the American River Festival!
