About the American River Festival

competitor at the 2004 American River Festival
2008 brings us the 27th American River Festival.

As its name implies the American River Festival is all about the river. We also place a special emphasis on families having fun together on and around the river. There will be a number of vendors and activities appropriate for younger kids and families.

Proceeds from the Festival will go to further the efforts of American Whitewater, a national organization dedicated to conserving America's whitewater resources, Friends of the River, California's state wide river conservation organization, the American Canoe Association, which works to promote paddling sports and is involved in the conservation of open waters for those sports, and the American River Conservancy, a local conservation group that has been protecting the American (and Cosumnes) River basins for over 16 years. You can visit the American River Conservancy's Nature Center on Hwy. 49 opposite the Post Office in Coloma, when you come into town for the Festival.

Whatever your pleasure, thrilling whitewater or watching paddlers "huck ends" in Chili Bar Hole or fun in the park join us this year as we celebrate the 27th run of the American River Festival!
