Silent & live auctions — deals to be had!

Every year, people scoop up some great deals at the Silent and Live Auctions that are part of our Saturday Night Festivities held at EarthTrek Campground, and this year is no different! We’ve just published a preliminary list of some of the items that will be on the block tomorrow evening, Saturday, September 10, 2011. Pick up a new kayak or river board, or upgrade your paddling gear with dry tops, sprayskirts, helmets, footwear and more. And don’t miss the accessories for your paddlin’ pup!

Friends of the River Annual Gear Swap @ ARF!

Need river gear? Got too much? Maybe you just want to make some money off that old bucket boat to buy your own self-bailer? Come to FOR’s annual river gear swap at American River Festival, September 10 & 11, 2011 at Henningsen-Lotus Park in Lotus, California. We already have an assortment of used kayaks, rafts, and boat frames with too many life jackets and paddles to count and more! Help keep the tradition alive by signing up to bring gear or volunteer. A committee of experienced Gear Swap types are coming together to make this happen. If you would like more information or want to get involved, please email gearswap@friendsoftheriver.org. Looking for volunteers

We still need many volunteers for events:

  • Fri 9/10
    • daytime: help with Slalom Set up
    • evening: lighting and stage set-up at Earth Trek 4 or 5 pm
  • Fri or Sat:
    • Set-up of auction tables: need someone to get tables from Lotus Fire Station and bring them to Earth Trek
  • Sat 9/11
    • time TBA: lighting and stage set-up at Earth Trek if not done by Fri
    • 11 am – 2 pm: Kids Kayaking Fun Fest at Henningsen-Lotus Park (HLP)
    • 12 pm – 3 pm: timers for Topo Duo Races Hwy 49 Bridge to HLP
    • 5 pm – 8 pm: silent auction and 8-9pm cashiers
    • 5 pm: Dinner prep
    • 6 pm: dinner servers
    • 7 pm: Live auction scribe
    • 5 pm: Auction organizers
  • Sunday 9/12
    • 8 am: set up for slalom registration and timer table
    • 9 am: judges for slalom race
    • 12 pm to approx 2 pm: timers for down river race Hwy 49 Bridge to Greenwood Creek
    • 2 pm: Dagger 8 ball TBA 49 bridge to HLP
    • time TBA: clean up at Earth Trek & take tables back to Lotus Fire Station at your convenience
